Nissan backs Radical Racer

Nissan's Deltawing is like Dart

With the engine and the driver near the back and a slender forward fuselage with twin narrow front tyres. It is the brainchild of Ben Bowlby, a young British designer and has already garnered support from American racing entrepreneur Don Panoz and Dan Gurney's All-American Racers, which built the car. Half the weight and with half the aerodynamic drag of a conventional sports-racing car, it will use 300PS 1.6-litre four-cylinder with direct fuel injection and turbo charging. It was going to run at Le Mans in June carrying the race number 'o' which was used, years ago, when the Rover-BRM gas turbine cars were proved in the 24 Hours race.
